Black Cased Chinoiserie Georgian Style Clock by Astral of Coventry, Circa 1920

A small black Chinoiserie cased mantel clock in George III style. 

 

The case with a brass carry handle and bun feet, allover decorated with embossed Chinoiserie garden scenes with figures, pagodas and trees. 

 

The engraved brass clockface with silver chapter ring.  The timepiece movement by Astral of Coventry, England.  Manufactured in 1920's.

Astral were prolific makers of clocks in the the UK during the first half of 20th Century.  Chinoiserie cased clocks are however relatively rare.

The clock movement has been fully serviced and keeps excellent time. The case with only minor wear commensurate with age.  With a Coventry key.
