19th Century French Black Chinoiserie Pagoda Clock

A beautiful black Chinoiserie decorated mantle clock of unusual design and grand proportions with gilt pagoda top surmounted by a an egg shaped finial.

 

Case decorated with floral, bird and rural scenes. Ceramic dial with painted floral swags - no chips or damage and filigree hands. The French movement with outside countwheel and cartouche for Marti et Cie, the well regarded French maker. Chimes the hours and half hours on a bell. Second half of 19th century.

Excellent overall condition. The case has been cleaned and waxed, with minor wear commensurate with age. The movement has been serviced by our qualified Horologist.  The clock presents in overall excellent condition.
