An attractive Victorian English gilt bronze strut clock, circa 1880, in the manner of Thomas Cole. The case decorated with floral scrolls and surmounted by an empty cartouche, the delicate filigree silver and gilt floral decorated dial with Roman numerals flanked by maidens with shields and a pair of swifts.
The gilding to the front of the case has been largely removed, probably by over zealous cleaning. The gilding to the rear of the case is in better condition and gives an indication of what the clock would look like if re-gilded. The case can be re-gilded to suit our clients taste.
The back of the clock has been modified at some stage to accommodate a replacement movement. This modification can be identified by the darker metal to the back of the case.
The clock runs well and is a very attractive decorative item for a desk or side table.
